Vivian Maier

Vivian Maier's work is mostly black and white film. Her street collections are filled with pictures taken in large cities like Chicago and New York. Her photographs mostly capture people in their natural setting on the street. She is able to capture a moment from someone's everyday life and make it interesting. These two photographs don't have any necessarily exciting subject matter, but instead have really beautiful composition and framing, and they both encapsulate movement really interestingly. Vivian Maier seems to have really focused herself on taking pictures of regular moments in everyday life, and shining a light on how beautiful they could be.

André Kertész

André Kertész's photographs also focus on taking pictures of mostly mundane things or places. His black and white photos really put emphasis on lighting and framing to make visually interesting pieces. These two photos feel more staged to a certain extent, it is clear he was trying to achieve a specific angle and composition for both. His subjects are captured very honestly and they demonstrate and document his everyday life.
